Peter Wright is a career strategist and President of The Planning Group. As a respected executive in the financial services industry and in his current consulting practice, Peter has successfully developed and executed business strategy with notable results. His practical approach to strategic and operational planning ensures that plans are not only embraced by the management team, but effectively implemented and measured.

Insightful Leadership

As the Director of Strategic Planning at Mutual Life, and then Clarica, Peter led the overall operational and strategic planning process. In an environment of complex change, his skillful facilitation of planning sessions with the senior management team was instrumental in the determination of key strategic decisions. Peter has also been recognized for his accomplishments within various business units, including the execution of strategy while achieving aggressive revenue, profit, and customer service targets. Peter left Sun Life Financial as Vice President of Corporate Accounts to begin his consulting and training career.

Eradicating the Planning Gap

In his consulting practice, Peter advises clients in a wide range of industries and not-for-profit environments. An accomplished facilitator and trainer, he works with Boards and senior leadership teams to define and develop strategy, resolve technical and operational issues, and overcome barriers to organizational performance. By providing planning expertise, process advice and facilitation, Peter helps companies overcome the planning gap. Linking strategy and action, he works with clients to foster true stretch mentality focused on growth.

Sharing Lessons Learned

In 15 years of developing business plans with Canada's largest companies, Peter has created many successful tools, models, and practices that can be taught to clients and other consultants. Peter used his planning and training experience to develop The Business Planning Boot Camp. The Boot Camp helps consultants and financial professionals add value with clients and employers; and it teaches skills to clients to keep leading edge business planning in-house.
